Konstanze Crüwell (FAZ, Jan. 26, 2000)

Chic, and in quite unparalleled artificially glittering pink two high cylinder-shaped lava lamps stand in Martina Detterer's large gallery room. Gert Rappenecker has created a three-dimensional landscape picture here, with an atmosphere that can only be described in a never-ever-land, an interstice between Luna-Park romanticism and misery. It is a quite unique experience… The voluminous and many-shaped installation ensnares us in its captivating interaction of reality, fiction and Rappenecker's own artistic subjectivity. And by virtue of this interaction (it takes place on several levels, including that of illusion, at once) he has clearly expanded his concept of painting.
